London Fish & Chips - Hypocrisy # (I don't remember)

On Sunday, 6/14, President Obama flew back to the United States on Air Force One. His wife, two daughters and her mother did a bit of shopping in Paris before taking their own Boeing 757 (C-32) over to London to do some sight seeing.

We all remember Obama’s admonishment to corporate CEO’s in February:

“You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers dime.”

Apparently that doesn’t apply to his wife.

The London Times opened it’s description of Michelle’s visit this way:

Motorcycle outriders, armored Chevrolets and bullet-headed men in raincoats criss-crossed London yesterday as Michelle Obama and her daughters spent a second day on an unofficial visit to the capital.

The Times went on to describe that when Michelle and the girls arrived at Westminster Abbey, the building was closed to tourists with people already in told to “wait against the wall.” An American visiting the Abbey said “Right then I knew it was probably someone from our ‘royal family’.”


Michelle’s motorcade shut down the London street above as the First Lady of the World and her children go for Fish and Chips at a pub in Mayfair. The entourage inside the restaurant was 15 people while dozens more wait outside. Include the dozens of Air Force personnel to fly and service the plane, embassy personnel and other staff and we are talking about a serious expenditure of tax payer dollars.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans have lost their jobs and won’t be able to take their family on a summer holiday. Despite their circumstances they’ll still be expected to fork over the tax dollars to pay for Michelle’s trip!

Political Correctness

Private Andrew "Andy" Long

Don't know who he is? I'll get to him in a minute.
I'm sure you've all heard of Dr. George Tiller, the Kansas late term abortion doctor who was shot to death at his church by an anti-abortion nut case a couple of weeks ago. The main stream media was all over this story, and the White House issued a statement expressing their outrage over this tragedy. Then, last week we had James von Brunn, the next nut case, who shot and killed the security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. Once again the media and the White House were all over this story expressing their outrage. A couple of weeks ago Private Andy Long was shot and killed and another soldier was wounded outside a recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas by Abdulhakim Muhammad, a self-professed Jihadist terrorist who wanted to kill as soldiers as he could. I saw a tiny bit of comment about his killing in the media, but as far as I know the White House had nothing to comment about on this tragedy, except one little statement, after an outrage was raised over the the fact that they had said nothing. This is really a prime example of what the media and Uncle Barack think of our military, the people who are on the front lines (pun intended), fighting for our freedoms, which the current administration is rapidily taking away. Obama is Commander in Chief, he should at least have said something about Private Long's killing without having been forced to do so. Shame on you, President Obama and the main stream media for your total disregard for our proud military men and women.

Democratic Congress Donating to Right Wing Organizations??

I was listening to "Sound off Connecticut with Jim Vicevich the other day. He's on WTIC AM 1080 from 9-12 Monday through Friday. He's one of those Right Wing Extremists like me. As part of the Porkapaloosa Stimulus package earlier this year there was a provision that all Social Security recipients would get a check for $250. I got mine. A guy called into Jim's show and said that he had been trying to balance his checkbook and it was off by $250 dollars. He finally figured out that it was his extra Social Security check. So, he said he immediately sat down and wrote out checks for contributions that totalled $250 to the NRA, the Second Amendment Foundation, and Judicial Watch. The best part was that he said he wrote a thank you note to Barack Obama and mailed it to the White House. My kind of guy. Wish I'd thought of that. I may still do it, maybe we can start a trend. Imagine the president and the Left Wing Congress giving us the money to donate to Right Wing Organizations. Boy, only in America!!

Gitmo Detainees (Can't call them Terrorists anymore)

My wife and I were watching the news last night and they did a story on what we could do with the real bad terrorists being detained at Guantanamo base in Cuba since Uncle Barack has insisted it be closed by next January. My wife suggested we turn them over to Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona. Brilliant idea!! Boy, would they rapidly wish Obama never closed Gitmo.

Shooting in Washington

I just heard on the news that a man has pulled a gun in the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and shot a Security Guard. Other Guards returned fire and wounded the shooter.
Now, I want all you Libs out there who might be following my blog to post comments about how this could happen. Washington, D.C. has the toughest gun laws in the country despite the Heller vs D.C. Supreme Court decision last summer. When that decision was announced, the city just changed the rules to make it almost harder now to get a concealed carry permit than it was before. What was that guy doing with a gun? It's illegal!! Didn't he know that? Come on, let's here it from you gun control people about how this happened with all those strict laws in place. I wonder what might have happened if there had been an armed law abiding citizen there?

Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow. The cost is $100.00 per scoop. When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but then the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you. You are left with an empty wallet and no change, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream.

The Meaning of Bloody Omaha

The skies over Normandy usually are filled with dark rain clouds. But on one day in late April, the sky was cloudless and the English Channel tranquil. Youngsters built sand castles on Omaha Beach and dogs romped in the surf.
It was a vastly different scene from the bloodshed and violence that occurred on this same beach 65 years ago today.
To understand what the GIs experienced on that fateful day of June 6, 1944, I climbed up a steep hill to the plain above the beach. Unlike the soldiers, I didn't carry an 80-pound backpack. And even though I observed German fortifications on my way, no one was firing at me.
These fortifications are a reminder that despite feints to Calais and bombing along the coast before the invasion, Nazi forces were well ensconced when the allies landed. Most of the bombs aimed at these German installations landed several kilometers inland, a condition that distinguished Omaha Beach from Utah Beach. Omaha Beach was Bloody Omaha, a scene of so much death that it was unprecedented in American history. One soldier noted "there were body parts everywhere and the sea turned red with blood."
Many never made it to shore from their landing craft. Some were shot and some drowned, not realizing that if you wear a flotation device around your waist instead of under your arms it may not be possible to stand in the turbulent surf with a heavy pack. There was panic, confusion, camaraderie and bravery on the beach that day that changed the world.
The cemetery for the fallen overlooks Omaha Beach. It was noon when I stood at the edge of the cemetery, looking out at row after row of the graves. The bells played "God Bless America." A burly fellow wearing steel-frame glasses was standing in front of me, most likely an octogenarian.
As the bells sounded, our eyes met. I wanted to say something, but he removed his glasses and wiped away tears. Words were unnecessary; we shared a silent understanding.
There is simply no way to describe the sacrifice Americans made on the D-Day invasion to reclaim Europe from totalitarianism. Even the notoriously dispassionate Europeans realize this is consecrated ground, a place where angels spread their wings to honor the deeds of youthful warriors. No St. Crispin speeches were necessary here, for this Band of Brothers knew what need not be stated: They were saving Europe from enslavement.
As a Normandy resident wrote during the occupation, "A German lieutenant said 'we are your masters.' Well they were, until the Americans arrived." Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower was a 20th century Moses. Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army fanned out across northern France. Though he had his detractors, Gen. Patton knew how to fight and win.
We have grown complacent as a people in the last six and a half decades since the war in Europe reached the beginning of the end. But it is hard to remain unemotional at the hilltop cemetery that honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we may live in freedom.
Though we owe these men a debt we can never repay, what we can do is honor them. Their bravery can still inspire if the story of D-Day is told with passion and honesty.
The world offers challenges each year since freedom is tested in each generation by new pharaohs. We need the guardians of liberty to remind us how precarious that freedom is. We need to rise to the occasion the way young U.S. soldiers did on June 6, 1944. They are a constant reminder that liberty requires vigilance and courage if it is to survive.

State Legislature

Well, once again the Democrat controlled Legislature has ended it's regular session without a State budget. Hey, let's give them a break, they had much more important stuff to take care of before they got into the budget. I mean after all they had to discuss an apology for slavery, open alcohol containers in cars, deposits on water bottles and plastic bags in grocery stores, decriminalizing small quantities of marijuana, banning smoking in the casinos, banning toxic cleaners in schools, getting BPA out of baby bottles, requiring restaurants to post the calorie content of their meals, changing the way U.S. Senate vacancies are filled, banning the owning of exotic pets, trying to tell the Catholic church how they run their finances, and last but not least and probably most important, once again allowing live reindeer in Christmas displays.
Hello, Connecticut residents, are you out there, and are you awake? When are we going to vote these moronic jerks out of office and elect some people who are going to get their priorities straight? The State budget is #1 priority.

Senator Chris Dodd

Some organization is running an Ad on local TV thanking Dodd for always being there for Connecticut's working families. I guess that's true, except when he's at his "cottage" in Ireland or when he moved his family to Iowa for a year while he ran for President, but I guess it was worth it for him because he did earn one delegate. What did the people of Iowa realize about this clown that the people of Connecticut seem oblivious to??
