They came home from defeating the Nazis and the Japanese and saving the world from despotism. All they wanted to do was get back to their lives, and what happened, they had to fight tyranny here in their home country. This happened in 1946 in the United States! This is why we have a Second Amendment to the Constitution. People who don't know or understand history are destined to repeat it. As Thomas Jefferson said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants". The way our country is going right now, this may start occurring again in many parts of our country, if people don't wake up and start holding the government accountable.
