The following link is to an Associated Press story about how the Government in their great wisdom is telling Americans that they have to cut down on their salt intake. Classic big government nannyism.
Well, I will continue to eat as much salt as I want, along with animal fat, red meat, Dunkin Donuts, cake, cookies, candy bars, etc. If I die 10 years early then so be it! I will at least have enjoyed the ride. As I tell my doctor, "I'm not going to start eating stuff I don't like, so I can live ten years longer eating stuff I don't like".
The government can take this suggestion and go straight to H***.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Remedial Constitution?
Sometimes when High School kids go off to college, they have to take remedial courses in math, reading, etc. to get up to "speed". Well, when Congress people and Senators take office, they take the following oath:
The following is courtesy of AOL News.com:
"Each year the Intercollegiate Studies Institute conducts a survey on civics to determine how well and how much our students are learning about how our Republic operates. It’s a great measuring stick, I think, but this year’s reveals so much more than how our kids are doing. In a stunning outcome … those who identified themselves as at some point being elected officials, knew less about government and the constitution than the general public.
Maybe we should upgrade the teaching of American History and it's founding in our schools, also because the general public didn't do very well either. I would think that, at least, 75% of the citizenship of any country should know how it was founded.
I scored 100%.
How about you?
- I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this
obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and
that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am
about to enter: So help me God.

In a stunning outcome … those who identified themselves as at some point being elected officials, knew less about government and the constitution than the general public.
But those elected officials who took the test scored an average 5 percentage points lower than the national average (49 percent vs. 54 percent), with ordinary citizens outscoring these elected officials on each constitutional question. Examples:Unbelievable … or is it? I thought most questions simple but then if you don’t believe there’s anything in that “really old” document applies to you, why would you know what’s in it? Click here and take the test yourself."
- Only 49 percent of elected officials could name all three branches of government, compared with 50 percent of the general public.
- Only 46 percent knew that Congress, not the president, has the power to declare war — 54 percent of the general public knows that.
- Just 15 percent answered correctly that the phrase “wall of separation” appears in Thomas Jefferson’s letters — not in the U.S. Constitution — compared with 19 percent of the general public.
- And only 57 percent of those who’ve held elective office know what the Electoral College does, while 66 percent of the public got that answer right. (Of elected officials, 20 percent thought the Electoral College was a school for “training those aspiring for higher political office.”)
Maybe we should upgrade the teaching of American History and it's founding in our schools, also because the general public didn't do very well either. I would think that, at least, 75% of the citizenship of any country should know how it was founded.

Constitutional Amendments
There are several areas of the Constitution that over the course of history have been shown to need clarification. Here are some proposed amendments. Since I am not a lawyer or Constitutional scholar, the wording of these proposed amendments may need to be tinkered with, but you get the idea of what I am proposing.

This one has been floating around the internet for awhile and I think it has a great deal of merit. If the ruling class in Washington, D.C. had to follow the same rules as us, maybe they would take a harder look at any legislation that they passed.
Proposed 28th Amendment -
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The 20th amendment limited the number of terms a president can serve. This proposed amendment probably should be have been incorporated into the 20th, but since it wasn't, let's pass it now and get back to the citizen legislators our Founding Fathers envisioned.
Proposed 29th Amendment -
No Senator shall ever be elected to more than two terms and no Representative shall ever be elected to more than 6 terms.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This Amendment has always created a fire storm of controversy because of the mention of militia and it's subsequent misinterpretations. The Founding Fathers meant for each individual to possess firearms, because in Colonial times, the Militia was an armed people - farmers, merchants, etc.
Proposed 30th Amendment -
The Second Amendment to the Constitution is hereby repealed and replaced by the following. "The Right of the People to purchase, own, possess, carry, or store any type of "arm" shall never be restricted in any way by Federal, State, or Local governments unless the citizen has been convicted of a felony.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Proposed 31st Amendment -
Article I, Section 8 Phrase - "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes" shall be removed and the following inserted in it's place. "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes. Regulating Commerce among the several states shall mean only preventing tariffs or any other restriction on trade in goods between States. The Federal Government is forbidden to impose any legislation on the States or People that are not enumerated in this document".

If you read the Federalist papers, it will be shown that the "Commerce clause", which was originally intended to prevent the States from imposing tariffs on each other, has been bastardized to mean that the Federal Government can pass just about any legislation it wishes. This needs to be corrected. Power must be returned to the States.

Arizona Shooting - Hypocrisy on the Left.................Again? Still?
Saturday afternoon, when I first heard about the tragic shooting in Arizona, I said to my wife "How long do you think it will be before the mainstream media (who, at that very moment were desperately searching for some connection between the shooter and the Tea Party) blames Conservatives for what happened". As it turned out even I was a amazed at the rapidity with which they did exactly that. They said it was the fault of the Tea Party, right wing extremism, Rush Limbaugh, but best of all, they said it was Sarah Palin's fault because of her targets on the map of Congressional Democrats that were targeted for defeat in 2010. Did you hear in the media that "The Daily Kos(A far left-wing blog) and the Democrat National Committee have done exactly the same thing in past elections? No? I didn't either!
If it weren't so tragic, I would be rolling on the floor laughing. The Left never let's any tragedy like this go by without trying to use it to their political advantage. The way they behave is a national disgrace.

The Constitution is Irrelevent
This guy is an absolutely typical Leftie first class jerk. I don't even know where to start with this one, so I'll let the post and video(Courtesy of Radiovice Online) be self explanatory. Just remember though folks, you've heard it many times, there is no bias in the Lame Stream Media, and this guy writes for one of the country's biggest newspapers, and is appearing on that "fair and balanced network - MSNBC".
