The S... Has Hit the Fan With Global Warming

      It's been all over the news, except of course on the State run media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, & MSNBC). All those emails that were hacked from the Climate Research Unit at Anglia University in England, the leading worldwide facility in climate research. The emails show that the data has been fudged, manipulated, and thrown away if it didn't present the "facts" they wanted it to show. All the talk is that humans are causing the global temperature to rise, through carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, and oil. How egotistical of the human race to think we can influence the global climate.
      This is just leading up to what I wanted to talk about. We are in an interglacial period right now, since the last continental glaciers finished receding about 10,000 years ago. Over the last 2 1/2 million years, the earth has had 5 glacial periods during which up to 30% of the continents were covered with glaciers up to a mile thick. Where did all that ice come from? When I was at the University of Connecticut, majoring in Geology back in the early 60's, we discussed a theory of the ice ages that still makes a whole lot of sense, and shows that what is going on today is natural and not caused by humans.
       About 2/1/2 million years ago, the continents arrived (continental drift) at their present locations. This set the stage for the start of the first ice age. At that time the Arctic ocean was open water. This allowed tremendous evaporation from the ocean that fell as snow across the continents. This eventually caused glaciers to start forming on the continents. All that snow and ice on the land caused a lot of sunlight to be reflected back into space causing the global temperature to drop causing global cooling and further glaciation. Eventually, the planet cooled to the point where the Arctic ocean froze. This cut off the evaporation that lead to the creation of the continental ice glaciers. With the influx of new snow cut off, the glaciers slowly started receding. As they receded, more land was exposed and not as much sunlight was reflected back into space, so the planet started warming again. Eventually, the glaciers disappeared as the planet warmed to the point that the Arctic ocean melted and became ice free again. The cycle started all over again, as it has five times, and will continue to do so until the continents realign themselves again. If the earth is warming, and the Arctic ocean is melting as the doomsayers would have you believe, then when it becomes ice-free again, I hope you have a big snow shovel, because we'll be headed into another ice age.

Owl Caught in Leg Hold Trap

        An owl was found in Moodus last Wednesday with it's leg caught in a leg hold trap. Unfortunately, it has since been euthanized. Leg hold traps are designed to merely hold the leg of an animal and they have padded jaws. You can take your fingers, put it in the trap, set it off and it will hold your fingers. It will not break or crush them. These are the only traps legal to use in Connecticut. The trap I saw on the news was not a padded trap, was severely rusted, and to be honest, it didn't look like it would function properly. I know about these traps. I ran a trapline when I was in High School. Leg hold traps are a valuable wildlife management tool, used by DEP and wildlife professionals to control populations of animals and to capture and eliminate or relocate problem animals. I don't use them in my business, only because cage traps work much better in most situations I run across, plus they have that media generated "evil" associated with them. Apparently, from what I have learned, the trap this owl was caught in was baited (illegal), set on dry land (illegal), and did not have the owner's name on it (illegal). Will somebody please explain to me how banning a useful tool when used properly and legally is going to prevent someone from using one illegally? I guess the same way more gun control legislation will stop young drug dealers from shooting each other with guns they possess illegally.
        I find it extremely suspicious that for two years in a row now, an owl has gotten caught in a leghold trap, shortly before the State Legislature is scheduled to start it's session, and "Ban the leghold trap" legislation is always on the agenda. The people backing this legislation, particularly the Humane Society of the United States, are mostly Animal Rights organizations. But, Jon, the Humane Society runs shelters for animals and everything. No, they don't. They are a National Animal Rights group that does nothing but propagandize, and start law suits to stopping hunting and trapping, and urge people to become vegans, etc. Do a google search on Wayne Pacelle, who is their head guy and see what it says about him. They don't spend one penny on animal shelters or animal welfare. They have NO connection with local Humane Societies, which do help animals and do wonderful things to take care of abused animals, find homes for them, etc.
        I suggest that anyone who supports banning these traps, go do a little research on what happened in Massachusetts with their beaver problem after leghold traps were banned in that state. I could tell you, but I'll leave it up to you. It ain't pretty!

Politcal Correctness & Rules of Engagement

The US Military today has to operate under what are known as "Rules of Engagement". These are rules set up by the Government that have to be followed in battlefield situations. For instance, you can't fire unless fired upon. Excuse me, this is war. It's perfectly alright for the animals (Islamic jihadists) we are fighting, to behead people like Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg (who was videotaped being beheaded and the tape [with sound]was later shown on the internet), and to mutilate, burn, and drag the bodies of Blackwater Security forces through the streets of Fallujah and then hang them from a bridge, but if we capture a high profile terrorist like the following story describes, and we bloody his lip, we get three American soldiers facing a court-martial. That is outrageous. Personally, I think an M-16 round behind the ear, so they can go get their 72 virgins, is much more appropriate. So sorry, but he was killed in a fire fight. Who the hell is running our Military? The ghosts of Vietnam are returning. We had that war won until Walter Cronkite said it was lost, after the Tet offensive.


Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist
(Rowan Scarborough/Fox News) - Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.
The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.
Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.
Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.
Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.
Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.
Neal Puckett, an attorney representing McCabe, told Fox News the SEALs are being charged for allegedly giving the detainee a “punch in the gut.”
“I don’t know how they’re going to bring this detainee to the United States and give us our constitutional right to confrontation in the courtroom,” Puckett said. “But again, we have terrorists getting their constitutional rights in New York City, but I suspect that they’re going to deny these SEALs their right to confrontation in a military courtroom in Virginia.”
The three SEALs will be arraigned separately on Dec. 7. Another three SEALs — two officers and an enlisted sailor — have been identified by investigators as witnesses but have not been charged.

Congress going far beyond what the Constitution allows

When members of Congress are sworn into office, they pledge to uphold the Constitution. On Sept. 1, I wrote to Rep. Christopher Murphy, D-5th District, and Sens. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., to ask what Congress is authorized to do under Article I, Section 8. I asked them to explain what in that section allows Congress to pass health-care reform, cap-and-trade, stimulus, bailout legislation and take over private companies. None replied.

In October, I wrote again and asked why I had not received replies. Since we all know how fast they normally reply to tell us what a great job they are doing for us, I figured it was just an oversight, but now that I have not received a reply to my second letter, it is becoming obvious the Constitution is just something that keeps getting in the way of their Marxist agenda and that they have no intention of upholding it.

All three should be thrown out of office for their failure to honor their oath to protect and uphold a document that was written by giants among men such as Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, George Mason, John Rutledge and Roger Sherman. Dodd, Lieberman and Murphy can't hold a candle to them.

Their plan is for the government to control as much of our lives as possible, under the guise of taking care of us. Never mind freedom, individuality, personal choice and responsibility, and the free market that made this country exceptional. Congress wants total control of everything, and the power that goes with it, but since they always exclude themselves from the legislation they pass for the rest of us, I would like to propose a new constitutional amendment. If they have to abide by the same things we have to abide by, maybe their tune will change.

Amendment XXVIII: "Congress shall make no law that applies to any citizen of the United States that does not apply equally to all United States senators, representatives and federal employees, and Congress shall make no law that applies to any United States senator, representative or federal employee that does not apply equally to all citizens of the United States. All existing laws and regulations that do not meet these criteria shall be declared null and void immediately upon ratification of this amendment."

If I develop a serious illness, and I come under the death panel which will decide if I will get treatment or not, I guess there will be so many of us, that the cartoon will be right, so I might live to a ripe old age after all, providing my illness doesn't kill me first, without treatment.

Health Care - Again!

It cannot be emphasized enough what the American people are going to be in for if Health care passes the Senate as anything similar to what was passed by the House of Representatives.  I have listed the things that are the most onerous in the House bill. Think about it, I mean really think about it. The government is going to be able to send you to jail, fine you, and tax you if you don't get health insurance? If this passes the government is going to be able to tell you what you can eat, what you can drink, whether you are physically fit enough, or young enough to get medical treatment, and whether you live or die. The government can tell you whether you will live or die???? There are not words strong enough to describe how outrageous this would be. For God's sake, WAKE UP!!!!, and call your Senators and tell them, NO!, NO!, NO!.


Here are some of the things you will be faced with!

1.  A $400 billion cut in Medicare.

2.  An inevitable scarcity of healthcare that will result from the
      addition of 35 million new patients, with no new doctors or
      nurses.

3.  A fine on the uninsured of 2.5 percent of their income, if they
      don't buy insurance.

4.  The high cost of these mandatory insurance policies ($15,000
      per family).

5.  The low level of subsidy available for the uninsured (only after

      they pay 8-12 percent of their incomes).

6.  The likelihood of a $1,700 increase in the average family's
      premiums.

7.  The possibility of up to five years in prison for failing to buy
      insurance or pay the fine.

8.  The taxation of medical devices like pacemakers, wheelchairs,

      prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, etc.

9.  The tax on sick people (increasing the threshold for deducting
      medical expenses from 7.5 percent to 10 percent of income.

10. The additional fiscal burden on the states of the increase in
       Medicaid eligibility

11. The 40 percent tax on private health insurance premiums that
       will affect households earning more than $75,000 by the fifth
       year of the plan. 

12. Government bureaucrats (Death panels), not you or your
       doctor, that will decide if it is cost efficient for you or your
       loved ones to receive treatment, or are left to die without it.

Tragedy at Ft. Hood

This past Thursday 13 American Soldiers were killed and another 30 wounded at a horrific mass shooting at US Army installation, Ft Hood Texas. As I watched in horror and then anger I recalled my two years of final service in the Army as a Battalion Commander at Ft Hood, 2002-2004.

My wife and two daughters were stunned at the incident having lived on the post in family housing.

A military installation, whether it is Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, or Coast Guard, is supposed to be a safe sanctuary for our Warriors and their families. It is intended to provide a home whereby our “Band of Brothers and Sisters” can find solace and bond beyond just the foxhole but as family units.

A military installation is supposed to be a place where our Warriors train for war, to serve and protect our Nation.

On Thursday, 5 November 2009 Ft Hood became a part of the battlefield in the war against Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism.

There may be those who feel threatened by my words and would even recommend they not be uttered. To those individuals I say step aside because now is not the time for cowardice. Our Country has become so paralyzed by political correctness that we have allowed a vile and determined enemy to breach what should be the safest place in America, an Army post.

We have become so politically correct that our media is more concerned about the stress of the shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan. The misplaced benevolence intending to portray him as a victim is despicable. The fact that there are some who have now created an entire new classification called; “pre-virtual vicarious Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)” is unconscionable.

This is not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is, an Islamic Jihadist attack.

We have seen this before in 2003 when a SGT Hasan of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) threw hand grenades and opened fire into his Commanding Officer’s tent in Kuwait. We have seen the foiled attempt of Albanian Muslims who sought to attack Ft Dix, NJ. Recently we saw a young convert to Islam named Carlos Bledsoe travel to Yemen, receive terrorist training, and return to gun down two US Soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruiting station. We thwarted another Islamic terrorist plot in North Carolina which had US Marine Corps Base, Quantico as a target.

What have we done with all these prevalent trends? Nothing.

What we see are recalcitrant leaders who are refusing to confront the issue, Islamic terrorist infiltration into America, and possibly further into our Armed Services. Instead we have a multiculturalism and diversity syndrome on steroids.

Major Hasan should have never been transferred to Ft Hood, matter of fact he should have been Chaptered from the Army. His previous statements, poor evaluation reports, and the fact that the FBI had him under investigation for Jihadist website posting should have been proof positive. However, what we have is a typical liberal approach to find a victim, not the 13 and 30 Soldiers and Civilian, but rather the poor shooter. A shooter who we are told was a great American, who loved the Army and serving his Nation and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) stating that his actions had nothing to do with religious belief.

We know that Major Hasan deliberately planned this episode; he did give away his possessions. He stood atop a table in the confined space of the Soldier Readiness Center shouting “Allah Akhbar”, same chant as the 9-11 terrorists and those we fight against overseas in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation.

No one in leadership seems willing to sound the alarm for the American people; they are therefore complicit in any future attacks. Our Congress should suspend the insidious action to vote on a preposterous and unconstitutional healthcare bill and resolve the issue of “protecting the American people”.

The recent incidents in Dearborn Michigan, Boston Massachusetts, Dallas Texas, and Chicago Illinois should bear witness to the fact that we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America. And don’t have CAIR call me and try to issue a vanilla press statement; they are an illegitimate terrorist associated organization which should be disbanded.

We have Saudi Arabia funding close to 80% of the mosques in the United States, one right here in South Florida, Pompano Beach. Are we building churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia? Are “Kaffirs” and “Infidels” allowed travel to Mecca?

So much for peaceful coexistence.

Saudi Arabia is sponsoring radical Imams who enter into our prisons and convert young men into a virulent Wahabbist ideology….one resulting in four individuals wanting to destroy synagogues in New York with plastic explosives. Thank God the explosives were dummy. They are sponsoring textbooks which present Islamic centric revisionist history in our schools.

We must recognize that there is an urgent need to separate the theo-political radical Islamic ideology out of our American society. We must begin to demand surveillance of suspected Imams and mosques that are spreading hate and preaching the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic……that speech is not protected under First Amendment, it is sedition and if done by an American treason.

There should not be some 30 Islamic terrorist training camps in America that has nothing to do with First Amendment, Freedom of Religion. The Saudis are not our friends and any American political figure who believes such is delusional.

When tolerance becomes a one way street it certainly leads to cultural suicide. We are on that street. Liberals cannot be trusted to defend our Republic, because their sympathies obviously lie with their perceived victim, Major Nidal Malik Hasan.

I make no apologies for these words, and anyone angered by them, please, go to Ft Hood and look into the eyes of the real victims. The tragedy at Ft Hood Texas did not have to happen. Consider now the feelings of those there and on every military installation in the world. Consider the feelings of the Warriors deployed into combat zones who now are concerned that their loved ones at home are in a combat zone.

Ft Hood suffered an Islamic Jihadist attack, stop the denial, and realize a simple point.

The reality of your enemy must become your own.

Health Care Reform - The Handcuffs are Coming

Under the present version of Health Care reform passed by the House of Representatives, there is a provision that states that if you don't have health care coverage through your employer or other private insurance, you MUST, I repeat MUST, buy the Government provided plan. If you don't, you can be arrested, put in jail for up to 5 years, and fined up to $250,000. Never mind the rationing that will occur and the death panels that will oversee the lack of care for the elderly. They won't receive any treatment. That way we can reduce costs. Oh, but we will provide them with end of life counseling and probably the pills they need to end it all. Isn't it great that the Nanny State under Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are going to be taking care of all of us. How wonderful!!!! This is America???? When the hell are we going to wake up???

1620 -Plymouth Plantation and the Pilgrims

I posted this back in February, but since Thanksgiving is coming and since Thanksgiving's origin is with the Pilgrims, I figured it might be worth another look. Since we are about 10 months into Utopia, and the government has already taken over most of the financial markets, two of the three domestic auto companies, is about to take over the health care industry, and on the horizon is the takeover of the energy industry. By the way, did you see that the only car company to show a profit was Ford, the only auto company that DIDN'T take a government bailout.

When the Pilgrims first landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts in the Fall of 1620, Governor William Bradford set up the colony so that everyone would work for the good of the colony and all the output was to be shared. In other words, "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need". A Socialist Society. The winter of 1620-21 was extremely harsh and about half of the colony died. Many of the colonists in subsequent years refused to work the fields and preferred to steal food. Governor Bradford wrote that the colony was riddled with corruption, confusion, near famine, and discontent. The crops were small because they were repeatedly stolen until they were almost inedible. This situation continued through the winters of 1621-22 and 1622-23.

The harvest of 1623 was different. The harvest that summer was very large and ended all the theft and famine. In fact, by the summer of 1624, the colonists had produced enough corn to start exporting the surplus.

What changed?

Governor Bradford abandoned Socialism. He gave each household a piece of their own land, and said they could grow their own crops and keep or trade them away as they saw fit. Production soared. He had basically replaced Socialism with the Free Market System. As they say "the rest is history".

With our new Democrat Administration in Washington we are rapidly abandoning the proven Free Market System and headed toward a Socialist Society. Our economy will show the results of that in the coming years. We are headed for an era of slow if any growth, high unemployment, and continuing recession. Right now we are doing exactly what FDR did in the early '30's and I assume we all know where that led us. The Liberals don't want the economy to not thrive, but they want control of our lives through regulation, redistribution of wealth, and government intrusion into your life. As a result, the economy cannot thrive, and will not until regulations are reduced, taxes are cut, and the Government gets out of our lives, and we revert to a free market system.

I heard on the radio today that Obama is going to hold a summit on how to get the economy and jobs going again. No need. Save all the money for the hotel rooms, travel, limos, etc. I can tell them in one sentence. You cut Corporate and personal tax rates across the board, and reduce government regulations on businesses and the economy will be humming along again in six months. JFK did it in '62, Reagan did it in '83, and Bush did it in '03. The same thing will happen again. Can you imagine a left wing Marxist president and Congress doing that? Oops, I must have dozed off. Well, it was a nice dream while it lasted.

What Hollywood Can Teach Us About the Fort Hood Massacre by Chuck Muth Most Americans have this whole Fort Hood massacre all wrong.  Maj. Nidal M. Hassan was not a terrorist.  And he wasn’t a mass murderer.  And he may not even have been a coward.  Maj. Hassan was an enemy combatant.  And until we come to grips with that reality, as well as the fact that we are still a nation at war, the United States will continue to suffer such needless and unnecessary losses. Since so many Americans have been under-educated by our government-run public schools, let’s refer to a system of education which most of us can readily relate to in order to better understand what’s really going on here: Hollywood movies. In The Patriot starring Mel Gibson, we learned that under-trained and under-armed American militia hid behind trees in the woods and waited for the British troops to ride up.  They would then open fire without warning, attempting to take out the officers first in order to instill chaos among the remaining soldiers, thereby making it easier to pick them off and wipe them out. In that sense, American militiamen were the colonial version of IEDs (improvised explosive devices). A rather unsettling thought, is it not?  For their part, the British thought such tactics by the militia were as cowardly and ungentlemanly as we do now about Taliban roadside attacks on U.S. military convoys in Afghanistan.  But both the militia and the Taliban used/use what little military tactics in war they had/have at their disposal against a superior enemy military force.  As they say, all’s fair. And what red-blooded American can ever forget the 1967 World War II classic The Dirty Dozen starring Lee Marvin?  And who did we root for in that story, the Americans or the Germans?  And what was the plot of that movie again?  Oh, yeah: “A U.S. Army Major is assigned a dozen convicted murderers to train and lead them into a mass assassination mission...” Gulp. This is why I say Hassan wasn’t a terrorist.  He didn’t attack a subway train or a nightclub or a shopping mall populated by civilians.  No, he attacked enemy soldiers on an enemy military base.  And he used what he had at his disposal – a surprise attack on unarmed soldiers which gave him a tactical advantage. Most of us probably consider this attack cowardly, but it was right out of Sun Tzu’s Art of War textbook: “You can be sure of succeeding in your attacks if you only attack places that are undefended. . . .He who is skilled in attack flashes forth from the topmost heights of heaven, making it impossible for the enemy to guard against him.  This being so, the places that he shall attack are precisely those that the enemy cannot defend.” Like the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood, Texas. Not that we Americans shouldn’t be outraged by the attack.  We should.  But part of our outrage should be directed against the idiots who decided that American military personnel need not be armed and protected at all times on a military installation during a time of war, even on American soil. Maj. Nidal Hassan was an enemy infiltrator.  Or maybe he was a modern-day version of Benedict Arnold…a traitor.  Either way, his was an act of war.  And a very successful one.  The U.S. response should now be two-fold. First, give Maj. Hassan a fair trial in a military court, followed by a swift PUBLIC execution by hanging or firing squad. Second, force the Pentagon and the White House to wake up, smell the coffee and recognize that we are, indeed, in a real war whether we like it or not.  The current “rules of engagement” which require our soldiers to fight with two hands tied behind their backs is getting them killed needlessly and unnecessarily. You wanna get bin Laden and his gang?  You do it the same way Jimmy Malone told Elliot Ness to get mobster Al Capone in The Untouchables: “You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I'm saying is, what are you prepared to do? . . . If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they're not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead.  You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. THAT’S the Chicago way! And that's how you get Capone. Since you seem to think that the government knows what's best for us and everything you do is wonderful and the best thing for us, I would like to suggest that you propose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution. If all the rules and regulations you pass are so good for us, then I guess they should be good for you, too.
I will support this proposed amendment 100%.

Anybody know or remember what that date signifies? It was the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. A physical barrier that came to signify the division of a city, a country, and the world. It represented the Iron Curtain, the dividing line between Communism and the Free World. It was put up to stop the flow of people escaping Communism through the divided city of Berlin. From the end of World War II, until it's construction in 1961, three million people escaped Communist tyranny to freedom in the west.
Yesterday, there was a anniversary celebration in Germany. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was there, as was Prime Minister Gordon Brown of England. Barack Obama couldn't make it, but he delivered a speech via DVD. Apparently, he was too busy on the home front. The people who were there mentioned JFK, but there was no mention of Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul II, or Polish Solidarity Leader Lech Walesa. Lech Walesa lead the Solidarity movement in Poland that lead to the fall of the Communist government in that country.
On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan stood in front of the Brandenburg gate and said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall". Reagan's stand against Communism, along with Margaret Thatcher's support, and the Pope's unending battle to free Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe were very instrumental in the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union and the freeing of Eastern Europe. Were any of them mentioned yesterday? Nope, not a peep, but did I tell you that Barack Obama mentioned himself?

Nancy Pelosi

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been reported to have said that the House passage of the Health Care bill is the best thing that Congress has done since the passage of the Social Security Act in 1934 and Medicare in 1965. Those two programs have trillions of dollars in unfunded promises and now that the baby boomers are retiring, both programs are headed off the cliff.  There is no way these programs can remain viable in their present state. If the Health Care bill passes the Senate in it's present form, it will be only a few short years before it joins Social Security and Medicare in it's trip over the cliff, but not before it destroys the best health care system in the world.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan

Last week, Major Hasan went on a shooting  spree at Fort Hood in Texas, killing 13 and wounding over 20. This piece of human debris is a devout Muslim, who attended the same mosque as two of the 9/11 hijackers. He has made posts on radical Islamic websites praising suicide bombers. He yelled out "God is great" in Arabic when he opened fire (This is what terrorists do when they start their attacks). When he was working at Walter Reed Army hospital in Washington, D.C., he had several fellow workers who wanted to make complaints against him, but they were afraid that they would be accused of discrimination, because Muslims seem to be a protected species and we definitely should not do profiling. He was  against our war on terror. I know it's not known as that anymore, but that's what it is. There has been some talk that he was "teased" by fellow soldiers because of he stand on our stand on Radical Islamic extremism. Poor, baby! This guy should have been thrown out of the Army, a long time ago, but because we don't want upset any Muslims, the Army did nothing. Even if there was no connection to Al Qaeda or any other organized terrorist  group, this was an act of terror, period. This is what political correctness gets you, folks!!

Obamacare and unintended consequences

For some unfathomable reason Congress seems convinced that it can suspend the laws of human nature by simply passing a bill. The current incarnation of Obamacare pending in the House is but another example of this folly.

Under section 501 (at page 296) of the Pelosi version of Obamacare, an individual is required to pay a tax, roughly equivalent to 2.5% of their adjusted gross income, if they do not have insurance.

Let’s analyze this. Right now a healthy 25 year old male in New Jersey pays $5880 per year for insurance. He purchases insurance for two reasons. First, he knows that if anything happens to him his medical bills will be paid. And, second, he knows that if he develops a serious illness, without insurance in force today, he might not be able to get insurance in the future.

Under Obamacare, the rules are different. Anyone, at any time regardless of their physical condition can apply for, and be guaranteed issuance of insurance at no higher premium (other than age) than anyone else. So, for our 25 year old New Jerseyan, if he has an adjusted gross income of $80,000 he can either pay a $2000 per year tax, or a $5880 per year premium.

Guess which option he’ll pick. In fact no rational healthy person regardless of age would ever purchase insurance until they are on their way to a doctor’s office. And, Congress has made sure of this result by providing in section 501 (b) that the tax imposed, regardless of income, can never exceed the “applicable national average premium”, and that the tax will be prorated so that it is imposed only for those months where one doesn’t have insurance.

Following this logic, our New Jerseyan cancels his $5880 per year insurance. When he tears his ACL playing tag football, he purchases insurance for the 6 months needed to fully recover and pays $2940 for 6 months of insurance. Then he cancels his insurance, paying a $1000 tax for failing to have insurance for the remaining 6 months, thus saving himself some $1940 over what he would have spent had he kept his insurance in place for the entire year.

Here is the logic of Congress: all Americans should have insurance, and, if they don’t, we will tax them, thus forcing Americans to buy insurance.

Here is the logic of the American people: I don’t need insurance now, because the tax is cheaper than the cost of insurance, and, if I ever need insurance, regardless of my health, I can always get insurance.

So, if this bill passes, we will end up with fewer insureds, not more. The law of unintended consequences is alive and well in our nation’s capital.

Irena Sendler - Nothing more need to be said.

Got this from my buddy, Steve.           There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena.  During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a plumbing/sewer specialist.          She had an 'ulterior motive.  She KNEW what the Nazis' plans were for the Jews.  Being German, Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids.)         She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.          During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2,500 kids/infants.  She was caught, and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.           Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.  After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family.  Most had been gassed.  Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.           Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize.           She was not selected.....Barack Obama was...

Election Day

It is extremely important that you get out and vote tomorrow. Although all the races here in Connecticut are local it is important that we show the powers to be that it is "we the people" who are in charge, not them. Nationwide there are some Federal and state wide races that are extremely important. Especially for governor in Virginia, New Jersey, and a Congressional race in the 23rd district in New York State.Vote ALL the incumbents out. Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Communist. It is the people who run this country, not the politicians. Let's show them a thing or two or three.
