Pravda

The irony of this article appearing in the English edition of Pravda (Russian State Newspaper) on 27 April '09 defies description.

American capitalism gone with a whimper

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheep, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather than the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blinds the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top Protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America .

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America 's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe .

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more than a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motors) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantor of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK 's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper....but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democrat controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulations that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Congressman Barney Frank and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible.. In other words, divest while there is still value left. The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Presidential Comparison Pop Quiz

1.) If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics would you have approved?

2.) If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and useless (to Tony Blair's UK video formatting) DVD's, when Tony Blair had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

3.) If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved?

4.) If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

5.) If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

6.) If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

7.) If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

8.) If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

9.) If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 10 weeks -- so you'll have three years and nine-and-a-half months to come up with an answer.

My Reply to Idiot Letter

Vegans: Get over it; Humans are among the meat-eaters

This is in reply to Nick Verrastro Jr.'s June 29 letter, "Animal production hard on people and the environment," in which he wrote: "The millions of active and healthy vegans in the world provide clear evidence the removal of animals from the human diet is the mature and responsible thing to do."

This is one of the most outrageous statements I have ever read. How dare he call all of the people in the world who eat meat immature, irresponsible and weak-willed? Who is he to tell other people what to do and then demonize them if they don't agree with him?

If Mr. Verrastro has looked in a mirror lately and smiled, he should notice some pointed teeth just back from the front incisors. They are called "canine" teeth. Canine teeth are designed to rip and tear flesh. The human race evolved as omnivores. We are designed to eat meat and plant matter.

It never ceases to amaze me how these people possess a "holier-than-thou" attitude that makes them feel it is their duty in life to stick their noses into other people's lives.

Personally, I think Mr. Verrastro should take up hunting. It is a great experience to get out into the environmentalist's "nature" before daylight, climb into your tree stand, watch the sun come up on a crisp autumn morning, and spend the morning enjoying the birds flitting around, squirrels running here and there, hawks soaring overhead, and maybe get lucky and see a bobcat or coyote. If you don't see any deer, it doesn't matter because you've had a great time communing with nature. If you do see a deer, then you have a winter's worth of lean, healthy venison in your freezer.

If Mr. Verrastro chooses to be a vegan, he has my blessing because I, unlike him, believe people are free to do as they choose. Just remember, it is easier to trap the methane emitted by cows than the carbon dioxide emitted by humans who consistently have to spout off and wind up putting their foot in their mouth, thus coining the phrase carbon footprint.

Oh, well, enough for now, I have to go put my rib-eye steak on the grill and the mushrooms are close to burning.

Animal production hard on people and the environment

The June 21 article "A powerful lobby behind bovine burps" reveals how little we plan to do in cutting methane emissions from farm animals and in reducing the negative environmental impact of animal food production.

There are three actions we can take:
Tax the farmers, food producers, and consumers for the production and consumption of these environmentally harmful foods.
Trap the methane emitted by cows, a difficult task indeed.
Stop eating these foods to decrease the number of animals needed and in turn decrease the methane emitted.

While the first two option entail us having faith in scientists and the government, the third calls for personal responsibility.
Many nutritionists have shown an animal-free diet is as healthy as or even healthier than an animal-based diet, so the "where would I get by protein, iron and B12?" excuse should be thrown out the window.
Since modern animal food production is often torturous for the sentient creatures we eat (creatures as sentient as the cats and dogs we love and protect), a meat-free diet reduces suffering.
Furthermore, by reducing our consumption of animal products, we will increase the demand for other foods and shift employment to this new production.
Also, we will decrease our dependence on the rainforest-grown grains and U.S. subsidized corn that make up the majority of animal feed.
The message is increasingly clear: Animal production is hard on the environment, our bodies, and most importantly, the animals themselves. The millions of active and healthy vegans in the world provide clear evidence the removal of animals from the human diet is the mature and responsible thing to do.
So what's stopping us? Our appetitive desires? Are we really that weak-willed?

Food for Thought (Pun Intended)

Got this from my buddy, Steve

Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, “Do you know how to catch wild pigs?”

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. “You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd“.

Suddenly, the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America.
