Sure Glad Someone Else Did it

Back in 1995, I found myself out of work due to a layoff. I was delivering newspapers and doing odd jobs to keep the bills paid. Something had to be done. So being a beekeeper and getting calls to kill yellow jackets and white faced hornets, which I couldn't do because I didn't have a license, and being very familiar with wildlife because of a lifetime of hunting and fishing, I decided to start a Pest Control business.
I started researching what had to be done. First I had to go take a written test, offered by the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection at the UConn campus in West Hartford., and then an oral exam at DEEP headquarters in Hartford, This was for a fee of $25. OK, that wasn't too bad. I got my General Pest Control license which covers ants, bees, wasps, fleas,  yellow jackets, roaches, bed bugs, etc. Oops, now I have to go take a another test at a different division of DEEP, to get my my Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator's license. Fortunately, that one was free, although I have to pay $100 a year to renew it. Now, I also wanted to be able to do rodents (rats and mice) - another fee, another written test, and another oral exam. OK, now I have all my licenses. Now what?
Checked further and found out I have to get a Federal tax ID# from the IRS, then I have to register my business with the Connecticut Secretary of State's office. That wasn't hard, except for the $250 "business entity tax" I have to pay every year, along with an annual $20 fee to update my information, even if it hasn't changed. Now, I have all my licenses and I'm ready to go. Hold on, now I find out that I have to register my business with DEEP in Hartford. That's another $240 a year. Now I have to get in touch with AT&T, and sit down with a representative, to discuss a Yellow Pages ad. Can't get much business without advertising. Of course, the phone book only comes out once a year, so I have to wait for that to happen, before my phone starts ringing.
Next step is set up a meeting with my Attorney to set up an LLC, so I'm protected personally, in case I ever get sued. That cost about $500. Now I'm all set except for getting toolboxes and a ladder rack installed on my truck. There goes another $1200. Of course, I also had to buy pesticide supplies, traps, tools, ladders, etc.
All this was done before I killed my first wasp or trapped my first raccoon.
So I guess I really have to thank Obama, because if some one else hadn't done all this for me, I probably would have never started the business.

Obamacare Decision

If I read the Supreme Court Decision correctly (It is confusing). Obamacare is for the most part Constitutional. If that is true, then all you Seniors out there will have your medical care dictated by a government bureaucrat. If you get sick and the treatment costs too much, you WILL NOT get treatment. You will be forced to die. Same thing if a child is born with a birth defect. ALL medical treatment will be based completely on cost and you and your doctor will have no say in the matter. November 6 is coming. It is time for the American people to rise up, and elect people who will repeal this total piece of S***. Kinda sounds like Nazi Germany. November 6 may very well be our last chance as a free country. WAKE THE HELL UP, WILL YOU....................Please!!!

Letter to the Editor of the Waterbury Republican

To the Editor:
I recently went to my Grandson’s eighth grade graduation. The students marched in and up on to the stage to “Pomp and Circumstance” as usual. We all then rose to say the “Pledge of Allegiance” to our flag and listen to the Middle School band play the National Anthem. That was the point at which I became totally disgusted and appalled at what I saw. As I recited the pledge, I noticed adults, in my line of sight (because I was looking at our flag), talking, laughing, looking all around, and playing with their cell phones. Not many people I saw had their hand over their heart. Exactly the same thing happened when the band played our National Anthem.
What have we become as a nation? I don’t care if you are Conservative, Liberal, or Moderate, that is our flag up there which represents our country. Do you have any respect for it? Think of the thousands of young men and women (many of them not many years removed from Middle School), who over the years have fought, been maimed, and died for that piece of cloth, so you could enjoy freedoms unknown in most of the world . If you don’t believe in it, at least have the common decency to take a minute and stop your fooling around while people around you who do believe in what that flag stands for show their respect.  Is that too much to ask, before you respond to that very important text message you just got?

Why Americans own guns.......

1. “Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.”

2. “Those who trade liberty for security have neither.”

3. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

4. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

5. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.

6. Gun control is not about guns; it’s about control.

7. You only have the rights you are willing to fight for.

8. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.

9. You don’t shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

10. Assault is a behavior, not a device.

11. 84,999,987 firearms owners didn’t kill anybody yesterday and won’t kill anybody today.

12. The United States Constitution © 1791.

13. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

14. What part of “shall not be infringed” do you NOT understand?

15. Guns have only two enemies; rust and politicians.
