Saul Alinsky

I have written in the past about how I feel this country is headed for Socialism at best, and Communism at worst. Now that the Media, the Obama Administration, and the Democrat controlled Congress has worked everybody into a frenzy over the Wall Street executives pay and bonuses (especially AIG), and you have your pitchforks and torches out and are ready to "go get them", let me introduce you to Saul Alinsky. Saul was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1909 and died in Carmel, California in 1972. He was a Community Organizer, vehement anti-Capitalist, and wrote a book "12 Rules for Radicals". He was a powerful voice for the Radicalism of the '60's. He was basically a Marxist. One of his quotes was:

"A Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this he logically proceeds to the revolution to end capitalism, then into the third stage of reorganization into a new social order of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage -- the political paradise of communism."

Sound familiar? The demonizing of Wall Street and our Capitalist system? This fits right in with Obama's agenda since he was a student of Alinsky. To carry it one step further, Obama was quoted in a campaign stop in Colorado last July:

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,”

Exactly what is a "Civilian Security Force"? Based on his desires and agenda, the terms Gestapo and KGB come to mind.

This Week's Gun Myth

Myth: Assault weapons are favored by criminals

Fact: Only 8% of criminals use anything that is classified (even incorrectly) as an "assault
weapon", though less than 1% claimed to use these firearms when committing crimes.

Fact: Criminals are as likely to carry single shot (derringer-type) handguns as they are to carry
"assault weapons".

Fact: "Assault rifles have never been an issue in law enforcement. I have been on this job for 25
years and I haven't seen a drug dealer carry one. They are not used in crimes, they are not used
against police officers."

Fact: "Since police started keeping statistics, we now know that "assault weapons" are/were used in an underwhelming 0.026 of 1% of crimes in New Jersey. This means that my officers are
more likely to confront an escaped tiger from the local zoo than to confront an assault rifle in the
hands of a drug-crazed killer on the streets."

Thoughts: “Assault weapons” are large and unwieldy. Even misclassified handguns tend to be
bigger than practical for concealed carry. Criminals (who, incidentally, disregard concealed
carry laws) are unlikely to carry "assault weapons."

Border Fence

I just heard that the Government is going to finish the Border fence that was started under the Bush Administration. Great, you say, that will be a big help in keeping those illegal immigrants out! No, you have it all wrong, they're completing the fence to keep all the Wall Street Executives in!!

House Joint Resolution 5

These people in power in Washington (i.e. - The Democrats) are really starting to scare the you know what out of me. $2 billion of the bail out is going to ACORN. That is the activist organization that is under investigation in numerous states for voter fraud. Registering dead people, people from out of state, the front line of the Dallas Cowboys, etc. Tens of thousands of possible fraudulent registrations. Do you think the Obama Justice Department is going to continue those investigations when Obama himself is a former ACORN organizer? Now, what does this fraud accomplish? Well, in the last election there were a number of states where the outcome was determined by a very small percentage of the vote. It didn't take much to swing the vote the in those states. A little voter fraud helps a lot.
OK, now consider that information along with something I just learned. You won't see this in the main stream media because they want to keep it as quiet as possible for as long as possible. House Joint Resolution was introduced on January 9, 2009. Guess what it covers? It seeks to repeal the Twenty Second Amendment to the Constitution. That is the Amendment that limits how many times a person can serve as President. Repeal that Amendment, along with ACORN's voter fraud and we could be looking at Obama - President for life. Think Hugo Chavez in Venezula!

This Week's Gun Myth

Myth: Guns should be registered and licensed like cars.

Fact: You do not need a license to buy a car. You can buy as many as you want and drive them
all you like on your own property without a license.

Fact: Cars are registered because they are (a) sources of tax revenue, (b) objects of fraud in some transactions, and (c) significant theft targets. Thus we ask the government to track them.

Fact: There is no constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear automobiles, and thus they
are subject to greater regulation than guns.

Fact: There are more guns in the U.S. than cars (228,000,000 guns and 207,754,000
automobiles). Yet you are 31 times more likely to be accidentally killed by a car than a gun,
according to the National Safety Council ... despite cars having been registered and licensed
for almost 100 years.

Liberals & Conservatives - History Lesson

Seems about right to me!
Thanks, Steve

For those that don't know about history .... Here is a condensed version:

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer, and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter. The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer, and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

Liberals & Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed. Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement. Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement. Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass. Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish, but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood, and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule, because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat. Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living. Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Thus ends today's lesson in world history.

Feds undercut ammo supply
Policy leaves manufacturers without brass for cartridges

Posted: March 17, 2009

By Drew Zahn

Fired brass shell casing

A recent government policy change has taken a bite out of the nation's already stressed ammunition supply, leaving arms dealers scrambling to find ammo for private gun owners. Georgia Arms is a company that for the last 15 years has been purchasing fired brass shell casings from the Department of Defense and private government surplus liquidators. The military collects the discarded casings from fired rounds, then sells them through liquidators to companies like Georgia Arms that remanufacture the casings into ammunition for the law enforcement and civilian gun owner communities, but earlier this month, Georgia Arms received a canceled order, informed by its supplier that the government now requires fired brass casings be mutilated, in other words, destroyed to a scrap metal state. The policy change, handed down from the Department of Defense through the Defense Logistics Agency, cuts a supply leg out from underneath ammunition manufacturers.

The policy has compelled Georgia Arms, for example, to cancel all sales of .223 and .308 ammunition, rounds used, respectively, in semi-automatic and deer hunting rifles, until further notice. Sharch Manufacturing, Inc. has announced the same cancellation of its .223 and .308 brass reloading components. "They just reclassified brass to allow destruction of it, based on what?" Georgia Arms owner Larry Haynie asked WND. "We've been 'going green' for the last dozen years, and brass is one of the most recyclable materials out there. A cartridge case can be used over and over again. And now we're going to destroy it based on what? We don't want the civilian public to have it? It's a government injustice."

As WND reported, firearm sales have spiked since the election of a perceived anti-gun president, and Americans stockpiling bullets have produced a stressed ammunition market. The Orlando Sentinel reports months of steady, heavy buying have left gun dealers in Florida facing shortages of ammunition. "The survivalist in all of us comes out," John Ritz, manager of a Florida shooting range, told the Sentinel. "It's more about protecting what you have." "People are just stockpiling," said a spokeswoman for Georgia Arms, which has seen bullet sales jump 100 percent since the election. "A gun is just like a car. If you can't get gas, you can't use it." WND contacted the Defense Logistics Agency, the Department of Defense's largest combat support agency, several times seeking comment or explanation for the policy change but received none. The National Rifle Association confirmed to WND that the DLA had been instructed to require the scrapping of the brass casings but declined further comment at this time. Other gun advocates, however, have sounded off on the issue, eyeing the change in government policy with suspicion and filling the blogosphere with speculation that the effects of the policy change may be deliberate. "It is an end-run around Congress. They don't need to try to ban guns – they don't need to fight a massive battle to attempt gun registration, or limit 'assault' weapon sales," writes firearm instructor and author Gordon Hutchinson on his The Shootist blog. "Nope. All they have to do is limit the amount of ammunition available to the civilian market, and when bullets dry up, guns will be useless."

A writer named Owen at the Boots & Sabers blog suspects the policy change is an effort by an anti-gun administration to raise the cost of ammunition. "This policy didn't come out of the blue," writes Owen. "The Commander in Chief is clearly sending a message to gun owners that they should be paying more for ammunition. If he can't do it through regulatory action, he'll do it by forcing ammunition manufacturers to spend more on production."

Hutchinson reports Georgia Arms was manufacturing over 1 million rounds of .223 ammunition every month, but without the ability to purchase expended military ammunition, the company may be forced to lay off up to half its workforce.

Nancy Pelosi a Saint?

Thanks again, Steve

On a Saturday afternoon, in Washington, D. C., House Speaker

Nancy Pelosi's aide visited the Cardinal of the Catholic cathedral. He told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day's service, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi a saint. The Cardinal replied, "No. I don't really like the woman, and there are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over certain of Pelosi's views." Pelosi's aide then said, "Look, I'll write a check here and now for a donation of $100,000 to your church, if you'll just tell the congregation you see Pelosi as a saint." The Cardinal thought about it and said, "Well, the church can use the money, so I'll work your request into tomorrow's sermon." As Pelosi's aide promised, House Speaker Pelosi appeared for the Sunday service and seated herself prominently at the edge of the main aisle, and, during the sermon, as promised, the Cardinal pointed out that House Speaker Pelosi was present. Then the Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation -- "While Speaker Pelosi's presence is probably an honor to some, she is not my favorite person. Some of her views are contrary to those of the church, and she tends to flip-flop on many other views. Nancy Pelosi is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. Nancy Pelosi is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief. Nancy Pelosi is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed. She married for money and is using it to lie to the American people. She also has a reputation for shirking her Representative obligations, both in Washington, and in California . She simply is not to be trusted."
The Cardinal completed his view of Pelosi with, "but, when
compared to Senators Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, and John Kerry, House Speaker Pelosi is a saint.."

Future President

Thanks, Jeff

I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied immediately, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed. "Wow... what a worthy goal," I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my sidewalks, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house." She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?'
I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party!"

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Tea Parties

I don't know how many people are aware of the "Tea Parties" being held across the country. They are demonstrations directed at the huge amount of federal spending being done by this Administration. I have always felt that the Liberals in Congress and Obama have it within their agenda to take control of this country, by force, if necessary. Don't forget that Hitler was elected in a free election by a country that was "under his spell" so to speak. That could never happen here you say? Too many controls in place on the Government, you say? Well, those Tea Parties could be called insurrections, especially if they get too numerous or too large?
As I was perusing the Constitution looking for the reference to an ex post facto law, I ran across Article I, Section 8, part of which states that Congress has the power "To provide for calling out the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel invasions". In other words they have the power to impose "Martial Law" and that means the Constitution is suspended and "bingo", we have a dictatorship. Don't think these people aren't capable of that. Think again!! Pay attention and get involved!!!

AIG Bonuses

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would impose a 90% tax on the bonuses recently received by AIG executives. Good, you say, we sure got them!! Well, if your rage is directed at those executives, let me fill you in on some information you won't get by watching the Evening News. We are being played like village idiots. Your rage should be directed at the Liberal Democrats in Congress. When the stimulus bill was being written, they included language in it that allowed for contractual bonuses to be paid. Well, this past week, they got caught with their pants down, when the bonuses were made public. Suddenly, they had their underwear in a knot. "How greedy, why we have to do something about it", so they passed the bill imposing the tax. This lays the groundwork and precedent for imposing similar taxes on anyone, anytime they wish in the future and if you don't think those taxes aren't coming you have your head up your you know what. There is something very insidious involved in this and it involves that thing that keeps getting in the way of the Liberal's agenda. That thing called the United States Constitution. Article I, Section 9. among other things says that "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed". An ex post facto law is a law that applies to something prior to passage of the law. In other words, if you cross the road today and tomorrow they pass a law saying it's illegal to cross the road, you cannot be charged with that crime unless you cross the road again, after the law is passed. These clowns in Washington vowed to uphold the Constitution when they were sworn into office. When are we going to hold them accountable. I am really getting tired of the apathy in this country. If something isn't done soon, the country as we know it is going down the proverbial tube.
So I said to him, "Barack, I know Abe Lincoln and you ain't him".

Thanks, Barry

Senator Chris Dodd, (D) Connecticut

This clown is absolutely amazing. Last fall, when the original AIG bailout legislation was being written, Senator Dodd had language included in the bill that would allow contractual bonuses to AIG Executives to be paid when they came due. Now that the "s... has hit the fan" regarding these bonuses, he is proposing a 98% tax on those bonuses. As I have said before, "you can't make this stuff up". Do you suppose his original intent to allow the bonuses to be paid had anything to do with the $103,000 he got in campaign contributions from AIG? This is a classic example of what happens when the government gets involved in the private sector.

P.S. We're still waiting to see the papers for the mortgage he got from Countrywide Mortgage, another major contributor to his campaign.

Hypocrisy VI

Did you hear about the newly renovated (at a cost of over one billion dollars) Fontaine Bleu hotel in Miami Beach? At this hotel, the rooms start at $400 a night and go up from there. Do you remember the bashing some of the major corporations took from the main stream media and the Obama Administration for having lavish getaways in Las Vegas for Corporate executives? Some of those companies actually canceled the meetings, because of the verbal abuse they got, at a loss of millions of dollars for the city of Las Vegas. Back to the Fontaine Bleu. Last week the AFL-CIO labor organization held a get together there, at a cost of millions of dollars of union member's union dues. Vice President Joe Biden actually spoke there (without any press allowed). I did not see one peep about this in the main stream media nor did I hear any complaints from the OBama Administration. Oh, I'm sorry, I almost forgot, the Unions are big time Democrat supporters. How silly of me to forget that! In fact, unions spent $80 million, to help elect Obama, who has said to the Unions "you will always have a seat at the table".

HYPOCRISY!! HYPOCRISY!! HYPOCRISY!!

This Week's Gun Myth

MICROSTAMPING

Background: Microstamping is a proposed means for imprinting unique serial numbers onto cartridges fired from a gun. Similar to “ballistic fingerprinting,” it allegedly helps police identify what firearm might have been used in a crime. Microstamping uses precision equipment to remove microscopic amounts of metal from the tip of the firing pin.

Myth: Independent testing by forensic technologists shows the technology is reliable.

Fact: Firing pins are readily removable and swappable in most models of handguns, and
inexpensive replacement parts. Criminals who file down serial numbers on the sides of guns
won’t hesitate to file or exchange firing pins.

Fact: 46% of impressions ranked as “unsatisfactory” (i.e., illegible) after only ten rounds.

Myth: Filing the firing pin will make the gun inoperable.

Fact: Firing pins are designed to be pushed deeply into the primer (igniter) of the round. The
depth of the engraving (approximately 0.005 inch) is vastly smaller than the tolerance of the
firing pins drive depth.

Fact: In a test, the engravings were removed using a 50-year-old knife sharpening stone in less
than a minute. The firearm still operated correctly after the filing.

Fact: Even if a criminal does not file down the firing pin, they might retrieve spent cartridges.
If they use a revolver, the cartridges stay with the firearm and are rarely recovered by police.

Myth: The cost per firearm will be cheap.

Fact: The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the representative for firearm manufactures,
estimates the cost will be upwards of $150 per firearm, more than tripling the price of self protection and making it unaffordable for low-income people. The Brady Campaign dispute
those with firearm manufacturing experience claiming micro-stamping would cost only 50¢.

Myth: The numbers will let police find the gun’s owner.

Fact: Most crime guns are stolen property, which makes finding the original owner worthless.

Update on Hypocrisy V

Today, Connecticut Democrat House Speaker Chris Donovan said the hearing, scheduled for tomorrow, on the bill to put State authority over the Catholic Church Finances has been cancelled and the bill is dead for this year. Why? They decided it was probably unconstitutional. Gee, ya think!!!!! The arrogance of these people never ceases to amaze me. They didn't kill it because it was unconstitutional, they killed it because they got caught red handed trying to pass unconstitutional legislation. Do you think they would have passed it if they thought they could get away with it? You betcha they would have!!!!!

Cinnabar & Galena

Want to know what those are?
I'll get to that later. When my sister and I were growing up, we occasionally got sick like all kids did and still do. Mom would bring out the mercury thermometer and take our temperature. On occasion she would drop it in the sink and it would break. My sister and I loved when that happened. We got to play with the little balls of mercury sliding around in the sink. We had a lot of fun doing that, in fact I would even coat copper pennies with it and carry them around with me making believe they were dimes. Well, my sister and I, and a lot of other kids are still around and in good health, despite doing this on occasion. I had a part time job on a school bus a few years ago, and one day we arrived at Pomperaug High School to pick up our kids. The school was locked down. The police, fire department, and DEP personnel were there in their hazmat suits. It seems some kid had brought some mercury to school, and spilled it in the cafeteria. You would have thought the world was coming to an end! Everyone in the cafeteria had to be decontaminated by DEP and the school had to decontaminated. Why? I know that long term exposure to mercury can be hazardous, but we're talking long term (emphasis on long), continual exposure, and it usually has to be ingested. Not a one time exposure for a short amount of time. This type of stuff is ridiculous, and expensive.
I watch the evening news every night, and it seems that at least 2-3 times a week they talk about a recall of toys which are decorated with paint that has a high lead content. Once again, how many of you played with toys back in the '50's, '60's, & '70's that probably were loaded with lead based paints. How many of you are suffering from symptoms of lead poisoning? Once again the problem is long term exposure. Prevent long term exposure? Absolutely, but this over the top baloney is ridiculous.
Today, we have to do everything possible to keep lead and mercury out of the environment, which brings me to Cinnabar and Galena, They are respectively Mercury Sulfide and Lead Sulfide. They are the major ores that mercury and lead are derived from. So if we put them back into the environment we are polluting? I'd say we're putting them back where they came from. That's known as recycling, which is what we are supposed to be doing today.

Hypocrisy V - Separation of Church and State?

You know how we constantly hear that you can't have prayers at Graduations, football games, etc., and you can't have any outside groups hold any kind of religious meetings in schools and all of this is because of the infamous "separation of Church and State" (which is NOT in the Constitution by the way). Well, hypocrisy is alive and well in the Connecticut Legislature's Judicial Committee. Check out the following link.

Poll Answer

While supplying products and/or sevices to the American public is one of the reasons. It is not the main reason. If someone has a product or service they want to sell, they will do everything in their power to sell it at a profit and thereby earn money for themselves, other owners, and shareholders. How long will a corporation stay in business if is not making any money or worse yet it is losing money. It's main purpose is to make a profit, which is income to owners of the corporation.

Editorial - London Daily Mail

Thanks again, Steve,

Obama's Victory -- A British view
An editorial from the London Daily Mail

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition. A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity. A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations, America!

This Week's Gun Myth

Myth: Assault weapons are a serious problem in the U.S.

Fact: In 1994, before the Federal "assault weapons ban", you were eleven (11) times more
likely to be beaten to death than to be killed by an “assault weapon”. In the first year since the
ban was lifted, murders declined 3.6%, and violent crime 1.7%.

Fact: Nationally, “assault weapons” were used in 1.4% of crimes involving firearms and 0.25%
of all violent crime before the enactment of any national or state “assault weapons” ban. In
many major urban areas (San Antonio, Mobile, Nashville, etc.) and some entire states (Maryland,
New Jersey, etc.) the rate is less than 0.1%

Fact: Even weapons misclassified as “assault weapons” (common in the former Federal and
California "assault weapons" confiscations) are used in less than 1% of all homicides.

Fact: Police reports show that “assault weapons” are a non-problem:

For California:
• Los Angeles: In 1998, of 538 documented gun incidents, only one (0.2%) involved
an "assault weapon".
• San Francisco: In 1998, only 2.2% of confiscated weapons were "assault weapons".
• San Diego: Between 1988 and 1990, only 0.3% of confiscated weapons were "assault
weapons".
• “I surveyed the firearms used in violent crimes...assault-type firearms were the least
of our worries.”

For the rest of the nation:
• Between 1980 and 1994, only 2% of confiscated guns were "assault weapons".
• Just under 2% of criminals that commit violent crimes used “assault weapons”.

Star Parker Column

Back on Uncle Sam's Plantation
By Star Parker - Syndicated Columnist - 2/9/2009 8:00:00 AM

Out of the mouth of someone who has been there.

Six years ago I wrote a book called "Uncle Sam's Plantation". I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it. I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism. I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps ..... A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty.

A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from
"How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?" Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others. The legacy of American socialism has our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.

Through God's grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is. I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996, passed by a Republican Congress and signed. I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American capitalism. But, incredibly, we are now going in the opposite direction. Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh." Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell "Massah" in order to get more cash. There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post,
Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus. "This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America 's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, health care, and education." Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea, or that massive growth in government can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability." "It's the same old sell". Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education. Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War on Poverty -- which President Johnson said "...does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty." Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same, but black families are not, with triple the incidence of single parent homes & out of wedlock births.

It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation, or they can chose personal responsibility and Freedom.

Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

HYPOCRISY IV

NEWS RELEASE

CCRKBA BLASTS DEM DOUBLE STANDARD: DISTRICT VOTING RIGHTS V. GUN RIGHTS

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today accused Congressional Democrats of “world-class hypocrisy” for pulling a voting rights bill for Washington, D.C. residents because Senate Republicans added an amendment that would strengthen their gun rights, as affirmed in the June 2008 Heller ruling by the Supreme Court.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the bill – which would give the District an official vote in the House of Representatives, most likely a Democrat – would not be considered this week because of the Republican amendment. That amendment would repeal a ban on certain firearms in the District, even though last year’s high court ruling said outright bans of whole classes of firearms are unconstitutional. CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, co-author of "These Dogs Don’t Hunt": The Democrats’ War on Guns, said House Democrats “are acting predictably, in a manner that belies everything they’ve said for the past decade about supporting gun rights.”

“Once again,” he said, “Democrats are revealing themselves as the party of restrictive gun control. If the citizens of Washington, D.C. have a right to full congressional representation, they also have a right to own the firearm of their choice. For Democrats to argue that one right is more important than another – especially after last year’s Supreme Court ruling on the Second Amendment – they are engaging in world-class hypocrisy.”

The bill would add a congressional seat in Utah, ostensibly to balance the District’s representative. But Democrats do not want to ease the highly restrictive gun regulations adopted by the District after the Supreme Court struck down the city’s decades-old handgun ban. Gottlieb said this stubbornness clearly demonstrates that the party’s so-called “support” for the Second Amendment is “just lip service.”

“Democrats argue that the right to representation is not related to the right to keep and bear arms,” Gottlieb said, “but that’s nonsense. This country was born because our founders were being taxed without representation, and because British troops tried to disarm the citizens. Those issues are just as equal today as they were 230 years ago, and Democrats on Capitol Hill need to understand that.”

1929 Redux

This is what we should tell some of the people that live in
our country now.
A song from 1929 - but is very applicable today - in the
U.S.A., Canada, as well as Britain!
It is something to hear from way back then.

Let's make it the number ONE hit of 2009!!!!

Gordon Brown visits Obama

Remember during the campaign how Obama said he was going to rebuild our relationships with European countries that George Bush supposedly destroyed. Well, early this past week, Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown visited Washington, D.C. to meet with President Obama. After their meeting the first snub to Brown was cancelling a joint press conference that is normally held after meetings with Foreign Heads of State. It is customary at the first meeting between the President and world leaders is for the two leaders to exchange gifts. Prime Minister Brown gave President Obama a decorative wood pen holder that was carved from wood from the timbers of the anti-slaver ship HMS Gannet. President Obama was very pleased and placed it on a desk in the Oval office which had been built from timbers of the Gannet's sister ship HMS Resolute and given to us by Great Britain. President Obama also returned a bust of Winston Churchill that had been in the oval office for the past seven years. President Obama returned the favor by giving Prime Minister Brown a 25 DVD set of American classic movies. Boy, a lot of thought went into that one. The Prime Minister could have bought them on Amazon.com.
Wasn't there a book written once that was called "How to Win Friends and Influence People". Perhaps Prime Minister Brown should have gotten President Obama a copy of that as a gift.

F-22 Raptor

MUTH'S TRUTHS

Before Stimulating New Jobs, First Do No Harm
By Chuck Muth
March 1, 2009

National defense is not and should not be a "jobs program." OK, with that out of the way, let's talk about 95,000 national defense jobs. "The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits topped 5 million for the first time since record-keeping began in 1967," reported the Associated Press on February 27. "And the number of first-time claims hit 667,000, the highest level in more than a quarter-century." At this point, fixing blame for this mess is pointless - although the fault lies entirely with Republicans and Democrats in Washington. The real question, of course, is what to do to heal the ailing economy. And the correct medical answer, of course, is to first do no harm. Which means don't make a bad situation worse. Or put another way, don't add to the problem and that means President Obama should instruct the Pentagon to keep building the number of F-22 Raptors the Air Force says it needs to protect this nation from potential belligerents who might see the United States' weakened economic state and decide, as Vice President Joe Biden predicted, that now might be a good time to "test" our rookie president. The F-22 is the most sophisticated fighter jet in the world. Although potential enemies such as China and Russia are scrambling to build something comparable, nothing in the air today can match the Raptor. Nothing. Here's how Dr. Loren Thompson - Chief Operating Officer at the Lexington Institute, which devotes considerable attention to defense matters - describes the F-22's critical role in our national defense.

"Command of the air is the central, indispensable mission of the F-22. It is the reason why the plane is stealthier than any other aircraft in the world, why it is more maneuverable, why it is more fuel efficient at high speeds, and why it is crammed with more sensors and computing power than any plane of similar size. Command of the air is also why it costs so much -- about $150 million for each additional plane. "What does that high cost get us? An Air Force that can use all its other planes in wartime without fear of horrendous losses. An Army that can continue to operate, as it has over the last 50 years, without suffering any casualties from hostile aircraft. And a defense posture that can deter war without threatening the use of nuclear weapons. "Every potential aggressor in the world knows that if it faces the F-22 in aerial combat it will lose, and that if the F-22 is sent to attack targets in its nation, the targets will be destroyed. Our enemies cannot see the plane with their radars, and they cannot catch it with their fighters. They are defenseless against it, and will remain so for decades to come. No other weapon in our arsenal provides that kind of defense and that kind of deterrence."

The plane is American ingenuity and technology at its finest. And admittedly, it ain't cheap. Then again, you get what you pay for. And national defense is no place to be penny wise and a pound foolish. In his "State of My One-Month-Old Presidency Address" before a joint session of Congress last week, the president said one way to pay for all the new and expanded domestic programs in his $3.6 TRILLION budget would be to "reform our defense budget so that we're not paying for Cold War-era weapons systems we don't use." In other words, cutting guns to pay for butter.

Holy Jimmy Carter, Batman!

And high on the potential chopping block is continued production of the F-22 Raptor. The Air Force says it needs 381 F-22s to assure it can meet its national defense objectives. So far, 183 have been built. At stake is a looming presidential decision to continue production of the Raptors or to shut the program down completely. If President Obama shuts the program down, the Air Force will only have half the fleet of fighters it says it needs to safeguard the country. And in doing so, the president will also put an estimated 95,000 additional Americans on the unemployment line - 25,000 who work directly on the project, and another 70,000 who work for sub-contractors and suppliers in 44 different states. Again, national defense should never be used simply as a jobs program. However, while President Obama is busy spending billions of dollars "creating" make-work jobs, does it make any sense to lay off 95,000 who are currently working in real jobs tied directly to the country's national defense? For both military and economic reasons, President Obama should make the decision to keep building the F-22s. The eyes of the world's bad guys are upon him.

Anybody want to guess how Obama is going decide this issue.

I Agree 100%- Just Wish I'd Written it

“I’m Tired”
Robert A. Hall

I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes. Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left wing Congress critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them—with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the religious freedom and women’s rights of Saudi Arabia, the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Gay people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela. Won’t multiculturalism be beautiful?

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor;” of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers;” of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery;” of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I believe “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of President Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois. I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less in an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fund raising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful. That thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress, that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his, that slammed Palin with two years as governor for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever.

Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the citizens we need.

I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people then themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years—and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers—bums are bi-partisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bi-partisanship. I live in Illinois, where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats and Republicans has worked together harmoniously to loot the public for years. And I notice that the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet are bi-partisan as well.

I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called "poor". The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I’m damn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to get to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.

Letter to the Editor

Actual 'Letter to the Editor' from the February 5th edition of the Wichita Falls , Texas Times Record News...

Dear IRS,

I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost.
I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog license tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting license tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle license registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I can't recall but I have run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Wrangel, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Daschle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.

Sincerely,

Ed Barnett
Wichita Falls

P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.

Great website and song - Get involved!!

Dear Susan

Thanks again to my Buddy, Steve for this one:

Guess you heard that 68% of the youth vote went to Obama. My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them I replied with this email:

Dear Susan,
The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother, and other productive, wage-earning tax payers will have their taxes increased and that means less income left over. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts. That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job. We can't afford her anymore. What is the economic effect of Obama's election on you personally? Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc. By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help. So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for your car, someone to bring you lunch, etc. ... call 202-456-1111 . That's the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States. I'm sure Mr. Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts, as we have, or leave cash in an envelope taped to his front door for you, as we have.

It's like this.
Those who vote for the President of the United States should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, stimulus checks, etc.). What Obama voters don't seem to realize is that the government's money comes from taxes collected from tax paying families. Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.
Congratulations on your choice. For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you've received from us, your mom, Mike's parents, and others, and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.
To congratulate Mr. Obama, and to make sure you're on the list for handouts, write to:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington , DC 20500

Love you Susan, but call the number listed above when you need help,
Granddad

The Porkapalusa Stimulus Package at work

"If Barack Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi took three buckets of water out of a lake, ran to the other side of the lake, and poured those three buckets into the lake. Do you really believe there's more water in the lake? That's their spending plan: Take money out of the productive economy, walk around, and hand it to the politically connected - 800 billion times."

Monday, March 2, 2009

There is currently legislation working it's way through Congress that would give Washington, D.C. a voting Representative in the House of Representatives. Nothing wrong with that except, that it's being done because Washington, D.C. is heavily Democratic and the Representative would likely be a Democrat.. The next step will probably be to give Washington, D.C. two Senators, like all the rest of the States. But, wait, Washington, D.C. isn't a State. Exactly! In May of 1787, 55 men met in Philadelphia to work on a Constitution for the United States. Among them were giants among men like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, John Rutledge, Alexander Hamilton, & George Mason, just some of this nation's Founding Fathers. They produced our Constitution during that convention. Article I, Section 8 set up a seat for the National Government that was not to be a State or part of one. Article I, Section 2 specifically states that the Representatives shall come from the "Several States", not from the seat of the National Government. Why is Congress trying to pass this unconstitutional legislation. Because it is controlled by Democrats and they want to add to their power. How many are aware that the Republicans, while they were in power in Congress never attempted this. The proper way to give representation to D.C. would be to amend the Constitution. This was tried in 1978 when Congress was also controlled by Democrats. It passed the Congress and needed 38 states to ratify it for it to take effect. Know how many states ratified it? 16. It failed. Representatives and Senators swear to uphold the Constitution when they are sworn in. Democrats only uphold the Constitution when it suits their agenda, otherwise is it just something that keeps getting in their way.

How are you doing? - Part II

Just so there is no misunderstanding. If the corporations get our tax dollars, then the Government has the right to put "strings" on them. However, if you were a bank and a corporation came to you looking for a loan and you saw that they were on the brink of bankruptcy, would you give them a loan? Part of the Free Enterprise system is that you can succeed, or you can fail. There is no such thing as "They're too big to fail". If it's failing, you let it go. The pieces will be picked up by other businesses or they can declare bankruptcy and reorganize. If you bail them out, you are rewarding failure, and that does not fit with the Free Enterprise system. The government has NO RIGHT to get involved in the business of any corporation not receiving taxpayer dollars.
I guess this a good time for a quiz on Corporations.

How are you doing?

It's 1:30 PM on Monday afternoon. I just checked and the stock market is down 239 points to it's lowest level since 1997. It has tumbled 1404 points (a 17% drop) since Barack Obama was inaugurated. Now in the five weeks since his inauguration, we have told those evil Wall Street corporate executives how much they can make, that they can't have corporate jets, we are going to raise taxes on their income, and Capital gains. Boy, we sure stuck it to them, didn't we!!!!
Now I want everybody out there to comment on this post about how much better their own life is now that we "got them".

"Delete"

I received this from my buddy,
Thanks, Steve

One question. When do we get to Senator Chris Dodd?

How to start each day with a positive outlook
1. Create a new file folder on your computer desktop.

2. Name it 'Barack Obama'.

3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.

4. Empty the Recycle Bin.

5. You will see the message: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?'

6. Click 'Yes.'

Feel better now?

Good! - Tomorrow we'll do a Nancy Pelosi file.

Quiz answer!

The President who gave that speech was JFK. He gave it to the Economic Club of New York on December 16, 1962. A Democrat who believed in the American people, not Government, to solve the nations economic problems. My, how the Democrats have changed!

The entire speech can be heard at:

Yellow tags

Thanks to Barry for this one!
Remember in grammar school, if somebody did something wrong, and you “told” on them, all the other kids would start chanting “tattletale”, “tattletale”, “tattletale”. Well, It appears to have come to that in California.
Well, now government is getting involved. They are trying to turn Friend against friend, and neighbor against neighbor. I guess everyone out here can now belong to the "Water Police"
Below is the first few paragraphs of a story in the San Diego Union Tribune, just another of the many “Leftie” papers, with an agenda, from around the country.

"Door tags let residents play water cops

Countywide project seeks to reduce wasteful habits

Union-Tribune Staff Writer

2:00 a.m. February 28, 2009

You know these neighbors. They're the ones with the poorly calibrated sprinkler systems that send biblical torrents into the gutter during the hottest part of the day. You've always wanted to do something to turn the tide but don't know how to approach the problem tactfully. Local water officials think they've come up with a solution. It's a bright yellow door hanger that doubles as San Diego County's new scarlet letter, and it's coming your way starting tomorrow.

“Dear neighbor,” the hanger reads. “Our region is facing a serious water shortage. This makes eliminating water waste more important than ever. While passing your home, I noticed the following:” Five check boxes allow you to identify a variety of offenses, including sprinklers that run every day (instead of two or three times a week), broken nozzles that leak and irrigation systems that turn on even when it's raining. Leaders of the San Diego County Water Authority hope that residents will act as self-appointed hydro-cops and hang 1.75 million of these tags on the doors of water-hogging neighbors. It's the agency's latest strategy for promoting conservation as the statewide drought deepens. People can leave the hangers anonymously or sign their names on them..............................................."

Hugo Chavez & Venezula

Venezula is in the midst of an Economic crisis, there is rising inflation, currently at 31% per year, reports of food shortages, and the country is rapidly spiraling into economic chaos. Hugo Chavez, the President of Venezula, has imposed price caps on basic foodstuffs. Up until a few years ago, Venezula was a thriving Democracy, with an open media and private ownership of all the industries. Since Chavez (who pictures himself as a modern day Fidel Castro) was elected, he has imposed heavy restrictions on the media, nationialized many of the industries and banks, including all the oil industries. He just sent troops to "temporarily" seize control of the rice factories to make sure they were operating at full capacity. Venezula is headed rapidly towards Communism, if they aren't already there.
Upon this seizure, he was quoted as saying " This government is here to protect the people, not the bourgeoisie or the rich". I seem to remember some other recently elected world leader making a very similar quote. Could it happen here?? I sure hope not, but with the Left wing media covering for Obama, a far left Congress in power, and Liberal judges legislating from the bench, you have to wonder.
